If your drain keeps clogging and a provider recommends jetting, ask which line needs cleaning and how they will assess its condition before you approve the work. When comparing Mr. Rooter HydroScrub Jetting with a local hydro jetting service, focus on the proposed job—not just the service name.
The useful comparison is whether each provider explains the problem, checks the affected pipe, and puts the cleaning and inspection scope in writing.
What Mr. Rooter says HydroScrub does
Mr. Rooter Plumbing’s residential drain-cleaning page, reviewed September 30, 2026, describes HydroScrub Jetting as high-pressure water cleaning that helps break apart grease, sludge and debris while cleaning the inside walls of the pipe. It says a service professional may recommend it for tougher buildup.
That description gives you a starting point for questions. It does not establish that jetting is the right choice for every clogged drain, or that two providers will use identical equipment or deliver the same result.
Rooter Experts offers hydro jetting service. Compare the recommendation for your specific line rather than assuming that the branded service and the local offering include the same work.
Compare how each provider chooses the method
On its drain-cleaning page, Mr. Rooter says its service professional assesses the issue, asks what the homeowner has noticed, and inspects the affected area. It also says the professional considers the line’s age, material and condition before recommending a cleaning method.
Ask both providers:
- Which line are you proposing to clean: a line serving one fixture or the main drain or sewer line?
- What makes jetting appropriate for this problem?
- How will you assess the pipe’s condition before choosing the method?
- What findings would change the recommendation or require further evaluation?
Share observations you have already made: which fixtures were affected, whether the problem has returned after earlier cleaning, and any gurgling or backups. You do not need to run more fixtures to build that list.
A recommendation should connect those observations to the proposed work. A service name alone does not explain why that method fits your pipes.
Confirm whether a camera inspection is included
Mr. Rooter says it may recommend a video inspection when needed to understand the location and cause of a problem. Its published assessment guidance does not say that every HydroScrub job includes a camera inspection.
Rooter Experts also offers sewer camera inspection service. Offering both services does not mean they are automatically bundled.
Ask each provider whether the proposal includes an inspection before cleaning, after cleaning, both, or neither. Also ask what findings you will receive and whether any recording or written summary is included.
For a closer look at inspection scope, use our sewer camera inspection quote guidance. Keep the jetting decision centered on what the assessment shows and what work is proposed.
Get a written scope you can compare
Before approving either service, ask for a proposal that identifies:
- The line or section to be cleaned and the planned access point.
- The cleaning method and any work needed before jetting.
- Whether camera inspection is included or separate.
- How the provider will check the completed work.
- What happens if the assessment reveals a problem outside the cleaning scope.
If one proposal includes inspection and another covers cleaning only, ask about that difference before comparing totals. For separate billing questions, see our guide to Mr. Rooter’s published flat-rate pricing policy.
Confirm local availability before booking
Mr. Rooter’s service page states that its franchises are locally owned and operated and may offer fewer or more services than listed. Confirm HydroScrub availability and the proposed terms with the local franchise serving your address.
Rooter Experts serves Northern New Jersey communities including Moonachie, Hackensack and Clifton. When discussing local hydro jetting service, give your town and the observations you collected above so availability and the next step can be discussed.
Choose based on the explanation and written scope for your line. Neither a brand name nor a local address replaces a clear assessment of the work your drain needs.
